Tecno is preparing to expand its premium smartphone lineup in India with the launch of the Camon 50 Ultra 5G. After making its global debut earlier this year, the handset is now officially heading to the Indian market. The company has started teasing the device ahead of its launch, putting the spotlight on its AI-powered camera features, sleek design and long-lasting battery.
The upcoming smartphone is expected to become the flagship model in the Camon 50 series in India. While Tecno has already confirmed the launch date, the full pricing and sale details are still under wraps. However, based on the global version, the Camon 50 Ultra 5G is shaping up to be one of Tecno’s most feature-packed smartphones yet.
Tecno Camon 50 Ultra 5G India launch confirmed
Tecno has announced that the Camon 50 Ultra 5G will launch in India on July 17 at 12 PM IST. Ahead of the unveiling, an official Amazon microsite has gone live, confirming that the smartphone will be available through the e-commerce platform after its launch.
The teaser reveals three colour options for the Indian market: Cypress Green, Misty Purple and Nebula Titanium. Promotional images also showcase a slim flat-frame design with rounded corners and a vertically arranged rear camera module. The camera island houses three large sensors along with an additional sensor, an LED flash and a distinctive red accent that gives the phone a premium appearance.
Tecno is also highlighting several new AI-powered photography features. According to the company, users will be able to improve photos using artificial intelligence, including tools that can intelligently remove unwanted objects from images. The brand says the phone combines advanced imaging capabilities with a slim body and a battery designed to comfortably last throughout the day.
Display, processor and camera specifications
The Camon 50 Ultra 5G was first introduced globally during MWC 2026 in Barcelona, where Tecno unveiled it as the flagship of the Camon 50 lineup. If the Indian model matches the international version, buyers can expect a 6.78-inch 1.5K AMOLED display featuring a smooth 144Hz refresh rate, an impressive 4,500 nits peak brightness and Corning Gorilla Glass 7i protection for improved durability.
Powering the device is expected to be the MediaTek Dimensity 7400 Ultimate processor. The chipset will likely be paired with up to 12GB RAM and 256GB internal storage, while the phone is expected to ship with Android 16 running Tecno’s custom HiOS 16 interface. That combination should provide solid performance for gaming, multitasking and AI-driven features.
Photography remains one of the biggest highlights of the smartphone. The global version features a 50-megapixel Sony LYT-700C primary camera accompanied by a 50-megapixel telephoto lens offering 3x optical zoom and an 8-megapixel ultra-wide camera. On the front, Tecno is expected to include a 13-megapixel selfie camera, with support for recording videos in 4K resolution at 30fps.
Large battery and premium flagship features
Beyond the cameras, Tecno has equipped the Camon 50 Ultra 5G with several flagship-level features. The global model packs a substantial 6,500mAh battery, supported by 45W wired fast charging, allowing users to spend more time using the phone and less time charging it.
Durability also appears to be a major focus. The handset carries IP68, IP69 and IP69K ratings for resistance against dust and water, along with MIL-STD-810 certification, indicating additional protection against everyday wear and challenging conditions. Those certifications are still relatively uncommon in this price segment and could become one of the phone’s biggest selling points.
Other expected features include Dolby Atmos stereo speakers, an in-display fingerprint scanner, NFC, Bluetooth 5.4, dual-band Wi-Fi, USB Type-C and full 5G connectivity. Combined with its AI tools and premium display, the smartphone appears to be positioned as a strong competitor in India’s upper mid-range smartphone market.
Tecno is expected to reveal the official Indian pricing, storage variants and introductory launch offers during the launch event on July 17. If the company manages to price the Camon 50 Ultra 5G aggressively, it could emerge as a compelling alternative to devices from brands such as Redmi, Realme, Vivo and Motorola in the increasingly competitive premium mid-range segment.
