India’s wearable tech space just got a new premium entrant. Finnish health-tech brand Oura has officially launched its latest smart ring — Oura Ring 4 — in the country, marking a significant step in expanding its global footprint.

But the launch isn’t just about a new gadget. Alongside the device, the company has also spotlighted a deeper concern — India’s worsening sleep patterns.

Pricing, Availability and Subscription Details

The Oura Ring 4 is positioned as a premium lifestyle wearable in India.

The base variants in Silver and Black are priced at ₹28,900, while higher-end finishes like Gold, Rose Gold, Stealth, and Brushed Silver go up to ₹39,900.

The ring will be available starting March 18 through Amazon, Croma’s website, and over 100 offline Croma stores across India.

However, the hardware is only part of the ecosystem. To unlock full features, users need an Oura Membership priced at ₹599 per month, which provides access to detailed health insights and analytics through the app.

A Smart Ring Focused on Everyday Health

Unlike traditional smartwatches, the Oura Ring 4 is designed to be subtle and wearable around the clock.

Built using lightweight titanium, the ring features recessed sensors for comfort, especially during sleep. It comes in a wide size range — from size 4 to 15 — making it one of the most size-inclusive smart rings available.

On the tech side, the device tracks over 50 health metrics, including sleep, heart rate, activity levels, and recovery patterns. It uses a multi-wavelength sensing system with 18 signal pathways, aimed at delivering more personalized insights based on individual factors like skin tone and finger shape.

All data syncs with the Oura app, available on both Android and iOS.

India’s Sleep Problem Comes Into Focus

To coincide with its India debut, Oura released a report that paints a concerning picture of the country’s sleep habits.

According to the findings, India is among the lowest-sleeping populations globally, with users averaging just 6 hours and 28 minutes of sleep per night.

That short duration is impacting sleep quality too. Indians reportedly get less REM and deep sleep compared to global averages — losing over an hour of crucial REM sleep each week.

The report also highlights a strong “night owl” trend. Around 59% of users fall into evening-oriented schedules, with average bedtimes stretching past midnight, while wake-up times remain relatively fixed — leading to a consistent sleep deficit.

Interestingly, Indians are also among the world’s top nappers, with an average nap duration of 53 minutes. Monday emerges as the most common day for naps, suggesting people are trying to recover from weekend fatigue and prepare for the week ahead.

A Growing Market With New Competition

Oura’s entry comes at a time when India’s wearable market is rapidly evolving. While smartwatches still dominate, smart rings are slowly gaining traction as a more minimal, lifestyle-focused alternative.

Brands like Ultrahuman have already built a presence in this space, and Oura’s arrival is expected to push competition further — especially in the premium health-tech segment.

Final Words

The Oura Ring 4 launch is more than just another product release — it reflects how health tracking is becoming increasingly personal, continuous, and data-driven.

At the same time, the company’s sleep report highlights a larger issue that goes beyond technology. As lifestyles get busier and more connected, rest and recovery are quietly taking a hit.

With devices like the Oura Ring 4 entering the picture, the focus may now shift from just tracking health to actually improving it — something India clearly needs right now.
