17 Series May Launch at Premium Prices in India, Leaks Suggest
Xiaomi could be gearing up to push its flagship pricing into serious premium territory in India. Early leaks indicate that the upcoming Xiaomi 17 lineup — including the standard model and the Xiaomi 17 Ultra — may arrive with a noticeable price jump compared to their predecessors.
While the company hasn’t revealed anything officially yet, tipster chatter is already shaping expectations around pricing, specs, and competition.
💰 Expected Price in India
According to tipster Abhishek Yadav (@yabhishekhd), the standard Xiaomi 17 could launch at around ₹80,000, while the Xiaomi 17 Ultra may be priced close to ₹1,25,000 in India.
If that pricing holds, it’s a sharp jump from the previous generation, which debuted at ₹64,999 and ₹1,09,999 respectively.
That would place the Ultra model directly against heavyweights like:
- Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra (₹1,29,999 for 256GB at launch)
- iPhone 17 Pro (₹1,34,900 at launch)
Meanwhile, the base Xiaomi 17 would compete with:
- Samsung Galaxy S25 (₹80,999)
- iPhone 17 (₹82,900)
Clearly, Xiaomi may no longer be playing the “flagship killer” card — this looks like full-on premium positioning.
🌍 Global Variants & Colour Options
Leaks suggest the standard Xiaomi 17 could launch internationally with:
- 12GB RAM
- 256GB or 512GB storage
- Colour options: Black, Blue, Green
The Ultra variant is tipped to offer:
- 12GB + 512GB
- 16GB + 512GB
- 16GB + 1TB
- Colours: Black, White, Green
That 1TB option especially screams ultra-premium.
📱 Display, Battery & Performance
The Chinese variants of the Xiaomi 17 and 17 Ultra reportedly run on Android 16-based HyperOS 3 and are powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset.
Here’s how they stack up on paper:
Xiaomi 17 Ultra
- 6.9-inch 1.5K LTPO AMOLED display
- 6,800mAh battery
- 90W wired charging
- 50W wireless charging
- Leica-tuned triple rear cameras
- 50MP front camera
Xiaomi 17
- 6.3-inch 1.5K OLED 120Hz display
- 7,000mAh battery
- 100W wired charging
- 50W wireless charging
- Leica-tuned triple rear cameras
- 50MP selfie camera
Interestingly, the standard model is said to pack a slightly larger battery than the Ultra — which is a bit unusual for flagship hierarchies.
🔎 What This Means for India
If Xiaomi does price the Ultra at ₹1.25 lakh, it signals a major strategy shift. Instead of undercutting rivals, the company would be positioning itself head-to-head with Samsung’s Ultra lineup and Apple’s Pro models.
The big question is: will Indian buyers see enough value in the Leica branding, massive batteries, and high-end chipset to justify that price jump?
Official confirmation is still awaited. But if these leaks are accurate, Xiaomi’s next move in India could mark its boldest premium play yet.
