In a move aimed at narrowing the digital divide, the Gujarat government has signed a Letter of Intent (LoI) with Starlink, the satellite broadband arm of SpaceX, to explore high-speed satellite connectivity across underserved parts of the state.
Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel said the agreement is designed to strengthen internet access in remote, border, tribal and low-connectivity regions where traditional telecom networks remain limited.
Bridging the Connectivity Gap
The proposed collaboration focuses on areas where laying fibre-optic cables or expanding mobile towers is either technically difficult or commercially unviable. Satellite-based internet is increasingly seen as a practical alternative for:

- Tribal belts
