Redmi Turbo 5 Series Launched: Turbo 5 Max Brings 9,000mAh Battery, Dimensity 9500s Power

Xiaomi has expanded its performance-focused lineup with the launch of the Redmi Turbo 5 and Redmi Turbo 5 Max in China. Introduced during the company’s January launch event, the new Turbo-series phones are already available for purchase via Xiaomi’s official online store, targeting users who want flagship-grade power without premium pricing.

While both phones share a similar design language and core features, the Turbo 5 Max clearly steals the spotlight with its massive 9,000mAh battery and a more powerful chipset.

Redmi Turbo 5, Turbo 5 Max: Price and availability

The Redmi Turbo 5 starts at CNY 2,299 (roughly Rs. 30,000) for the 12GB RAM + 256GB storage variant. Both the 12GB + 512GB and 16GB + 256GB versions are priced at CNY 2,599 (around Rs. 34,000), while the top-end 16GB + 512GB model costs CNY 2,899 (about Rs. 38,000). It is available in Auspicious Cloud White, Shadow Black, and Shallow Sea Blue.

The Redmi Turbo 5 Max begins at CNY 2,499 (around Rs. 33,000) for 12GB + 256GB, going up to CNY 3,299 (roughly Rs. 44,000) for the fully loaded 16GB + 512GB variant. Colour options include Auspicious Cloud White, Sea Breeze Blue, Shadow Black, and Sun Orange.

Both models are currently on sale in China.

Display: Big, bright, and fast

The standard Turbo 5 features a 6.59-inch AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate, while the Turbo 5 Max ups the size to 6.83 inches. Both panels offer:

  • Up to 3,500 nits peak brightness
  • 480Hz touch sampling rate
  • 68.7 billion colours
  • Dolby Vision and HDR10+ support

Xiaomi has also included Wet Hand Touch 2.0, improving responsiveness even with damp fingers — a handy real-world addition.

Performance: Dimensity power under the hood

The Turbo 5 Max is powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 9500s, built on a 3nm process with clock speeds reaching 3.73GHz. The regular Turbo 5 runs on the MediaTek Dimensity 8500 Ultra, a 4nm chip clocked at 3.4GHz.

Both phones pack up to 16GB LPDDR5x Ultra RAM and 512GB UFS 4.1 storage, positioning them squarely in flagship territory. They also ship with IP66, IP68, IP69, and IP69K ratings — a rare combination even among premium smartphones.

Cameras: Similar setup, different sensors

Both Redmi Turbo 5 models sport a dual rear camera setup, paired with an 8MP ultra-wide lens.

  • Turbo 5 Max: 50MP Light Hunter 600 primary camera (f/1.5)
  • Turbo 5: 50MP Sony IMX882 primary camera (f/1.5)

On the front, both phones feature a 20MP selfie camera. Video recording is capped at 1080p at 60fps, keeping the focus more on performance and battery rather than advanced videography.

Battery: Turbo 5 Max goes all in

Battery life is where the Turbo 5 Max truly stands out. It packs a 9,000mAh battery, one of the largest seen in a mainstream smartphone. The standard Turbo 5 isn’t far behind either, with a sizeable 7,560mAh cell.

Both phones support:

  • 100W wired fast charging
  • 27W wired reverse charging

This combination makes the Turbo 5 series especially appealing to heavy users and gamers.

Software and connectivity

The Redmi Turbo 5 series runs on Android 16-based HyperOS 3 out of the box. Connectivity options include 5G, 4G LTE, USB Type-C, and Bluetooth 5.4. The Turbo 5 Max supports Wi-Fi 7, while the Turbo 5 comes with Wi-Fi 6.

In terms of size and weight:

  • Turbo 5 Max: 219g
  • Turbo 5: 204g

Final words

With the Turbo 5 series, Xiaomi is clearly pushing the limits of what mid-to-upper-range smartphones can offer. The Turbo 5 Max, in particular, feels like a battery monster built for power users, while the standard Turbo 5 balances performance and size more comfortably.

If Xiaomi brings these models to global markets at competitive prices, the Turbo 5 lineup could seriously shake up the performance-phone segment in 2026.
